The Coles Group Self Insurance team protects our team members, customers, and business in workers compensation and public liability matters. As a national team, we engage and collaborate across all Coles brands including Coles Supermarkets, Coles Liquor Retail and our Supply Chain business. Our team offers strategic advice that guides decision making and helps Coles Group achieve its business outcomes.
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits a highly motivated and proactive public liability professional to join our Group Insurance team as a Claims Specialist – Public Liability.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Claims Specialist, you will manage a portfolio of short-tail public liability claims, ensuring quick resolution with a strong customer service focus. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Claims Management: Understand key requirements of public liability claims management and follow processes to achieve outcomes.
- Risk Identification: Identify ‘red flags’ indicating higher cost risks and escalate as required.
- Process Adherence: Ensure timely and effective management of all allocated claims within designated approval limits.
- Project Involvement: Undertake projects as required by the National Public Liability Claims Manager.
- Skill Development: Continuously extend your skills in managing challenging customer situations to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Knowledge Enhancement: Expand your understanding of public liability claims, legal frameworks, and customer expectations to ensure effective risk management.
What You’ll Need:
We are looking for a results-driven professional with demonstrated experience in claims management within an insurance environment, specifically in public liability. You will also need:
- Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of public liability claims management and the insurance industry.
- Customer Service: Strong understanding of customer service with experience handling difficult situations.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective interpersonal and communication capabilities.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet agreed deadlines.
- Technical Competence: Quick grasp of claims management and electronic information management systems.
