About the role


The Category Manager - Technology is responsible for managing the Technology category, providing end‑to‑end sourcing and contract management, and delivering category and sourcing strategies aligned to Coles’ business objectives. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Develop and manage the category value pipeline, tracking delivery, efficiency and outcomes
  • Monitor, report and proactively manage risks and opportunities across sourcing initiatives
  • Identify value creation and risk mitigation opportunities arising from market, supplier and technology changes
  • Deliver sourcing initiatives aligned to category strategies and broader business objectives
  • Plan, prioritise and rebalance sourcing activity in response to business demand
  • Lead end‑to‑end sourcing processes including scope definition, supplier evaluation, negotiation, risk management and contract execution
  • Negotiate and shape commercial and contractual terms, partnering with Legal and working with contract managers to maintain Coles’  Third Party Risk management process
  • Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key and critical suppliers
  • Lead long‑term supplier partnerships to deliver mutual commercial and innovation outcomes


About you and your skills


You bring strong commercial acumen, technology category experience and the ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers. You will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, ideally in commerce or supply chain management, with strong commercial capability gained in complex Retail/FMCG or listed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Digital Technologies or Technology categories with end‑to‑end accountability for sourcing, contracting and third‑party supplier governance.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and align diverse senior stakeholders
  • Strong end‑to‑end sourcing capability, from category and sourcing strategy through to negotiation and contract execution.
  • Experience managing strategic, high‑value and business‑critical technology suppliers.
  • Capability supporting supplier performance management and leading annual supplier reviews within technology environments.
  • Sound understanding of contract risk, compliance and effective engagement with Legal and third‑party risk processes.
  • Experience embedding technology contracts into purchase‑to‑payment processes to ensure commercial compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver value, cost optimisation and innovation within technology supply markets.
