To understand our merchandise business, we need to understand our customers. That’s why you’ll find us working across all business units at Coles Supermarkets, Liquor and Coles Local. Supermarkets is one of the largest teams at Coles, but we’re a close-knit group that come from all over the world. 

 


About the role

As our Category Design Manager, you will be part of executing first class packaging design/artwork to build brand equity in which customers can trust, across multiple product categories.  This fixed term 15-month opportunity will see you work and deliver on design and artwork projects with great shelf presence and demonstrating high print quality.  

As part of this role, you will also:

 

•    Oversee the total design and artwork process and deliver to project timelines
•    Lead the design briefs and liaise with varied internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear design direction
•    Partner with creative agencies to co-ordinate and attend food photo shoots
•    Manage the approval of art work to ensure it adheres to the Coles design style guides and legal rerquirements
•    Constantly challenge costs with various agencies and be accountable for all artwork costs/budgets 

 


About you and your skills
 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to bring your proven design experience and join a diverse team of experts.  Your background as part of a design studio or agency will be beneficial in landing successfully in this role.  You will manage the end to end of varied artwork/design projects and have genuine impact in the work you will do! 

 

You will also have:  

•    Proven experience in packaging design and artwork exposure will be essential for this role
•    Demonstrated experience in strong project management of design projects
•    Previous management of multiple projects, deadlines and budgets 
•    Ability to work cross functionally to influence with impact
•    Experience in marketing and design, particularly around new product development and packaging
•    Work autonomously by meeting own deadlines, manage priorities and adapt to moving timeframes
•    Capacity to communicate effectively, partner and influence with senior stakeholders
