Are you a highly motivated and adaptable professional who's hungry to learn and confident working with a diverse range of stakeholders? Coles has a fantastic opportunity for you to join our Strategy Division as a Business Analyst, reporting to the Head of Group Transformation.

 

In this pivotal role, you'll provide crucial analysis, reporting, and risk management support, acting as a subject matter expert and guiding others in best-practice analytics. We're looking for someone who isn't afraid to challenge assumptions and is passionate about using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement, including the adoption of advanced analytics and AI.

 

As a Business Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Portfolio Analysis:
    • Collecting and analysing portfolio and program data to provide insights, trends, forecasts, and risk assessments.
    • Identifying, analysing, and monitoring risks and cross-program dependencies.
    • Proposing resolution strategies and influencing senior stakeholders on portfolio prioritisation and sequencing.
    • Acting as a subject matter expert in portfolio data analytics to uplift team capability.
  • Reporting & Dashboards:
    • Designing and maintaining portfolio dashboards and reports, primarily in Power BI.
    • Populating reports by collecting and combining data from various business sources.
    • Optimising insights generation and proactively identifying opportunities for AI, automation, and advanced analytics.

 


<h3>About you and your skills </h3>
 

We're looking for a person with a growth mindset, someone who is curious, engaging, and a genuine problem-solver. You'll need to demonstrate exceptional communication and influencing skills, with proven experience presenting to senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be adept at moving between strategic and operational levels, working effectively with both business and technical teams.

 

Qualifications and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Desirable: Certifications in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP) or Data Analytics (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
  • Proven experience in Portfolio Analysis:
    • Strategic planning and business case cost-benefit analysis.
    • Knowledge of portfolio prioritisation frameworks.
    • Complex interdependency management across portfolios or programs.
    • Experience in requirements elicitation and documentation.
  • Proven experience in Portfolio Reporting:
    • Advanced proficiency in Power BI for data modelling, transformation, and visualisation.
    • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., Data Analysis, Pivot Tables, Advanced Formulas).
    • Capability in SQL, Python, or R for advanced analytics.
    • Experience applying or piloting emerging AI/ML capabilities in data analysis and reporting.
  • Project Portfolio Management (PPM):
    • Experience using PPM tools and knowledge of portfolio and project management methodologies.
