Coles Celebrates NAIDOC 2021 – Heal Country

Coles has a proud history of taking action and forming strong relationships with the Indigenous community, and that commitment extends to working better together to ensure that we continue to grow our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team member representation in our stores and in trade and management roles, and to support Indigenous suppliers. During NAIDOC week and beyond, we acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, team members and community. The NAIDOC theme of Heal Country encourages people to acknowledge the stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their connection to lands and cultures.

Our vision

The Coles Group Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Plan is supported by our dedicated Indigenous Affairs team. It outlines our commitment to provide more jobs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians and actively develop their careers.

We are proud to be one of Australia’s largest private-sector employers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. By 2023, we’re committed to increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team member representation to five percent of our total workforce and three percent of trade and leadership roles. We’re also focused on maintaining retention rates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team members above the Coles Group average.

Acknowledgement of Country

Coles Group acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia. We recognise their strength and continuing culture and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Coles Group extends that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and recognises their rich cultures and continuing connection to land and waters.
