About the role

Bridging the gap between our suppliers, distribution centres and stores, our Supply Chain team works with thousands of trusted businesses every day. We work hard to make life easier, safer and more sustainable across our network, as well as maintain the availability and quality of our products for our customers.We’re looking for an exceptional Transport Operations Manager to join our team.

 

What you’ll be doing
You’ll take responsibility for aligning all intrastate transport activities, including the integration of primary and secondary tasks, across our expanded State Transport Network.

Other ways you can make an impact include:

 

  • standardise and implement common processes and procedures between our transport network, DCs, 3PL Operations teams, stores and suppliers
  • participating in effective contractor management to achieve best value and ensuring all contractual obligations are delivered
  • aiming to reduce transport costs, optimising inbound and outbound freight networks
  • improving planning approach, systems and availability for our stores
  • setting budgets, contract pricing and operational service agreement
  • ensuring store customer service needs are met and targets achieved

 

Good things you’ll need

  • proven ability to negotiate, coordinate and influence outcomes outside of normal reporting structures – inclusive of third parties with parallel or differing interests
  • a strong track record of operations management within a complex transport or supply chain environment
  • experience with project implementation and operation of supply chain systems
  • the ability to understand and interpret contracts (particularly in complex multiple partnerships)
  • commercial experience in assisting / setting an annual budget
  • analytical, financial and business acumen with the ability to deliver measurable business improvements
  • highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, influence and manage relationships with various levels of stakeholders
