Today, the opportunities for growth across Coles’ Finance team offer more potential than ever.  Our Senior Finance Managers play a key role in that progress by identifying and capitalising on opportunities to drive value for all Coles customers.  They strategise, forecast, audit, analyse, budget, research and lead important decisions to deliver far more than just the numbers.


This is a highly visible team that helps drive business decision making and is uniquely positioned to understand what is happening in all parts of the supermarkets business.



What you'll be doing


As the Senior Finance Manager - Commercial Planning and Insights, you'll report to the Head of Finance Commercial & Express and will include collaboration with Finance Managers and Finance Business Partners within Commercial / Merchandise, as well as other planning leads in other functions ensuring alignment and transparency across the planning achievements.


  • Lead a team of 3 direct reports
  • Key focus area for the role includes managing the corporate plan and annual budget process for Commercial / Merchandise function
  • Responsible for commercial insights and trade outlook for supermarket trading performance.
  • Preparation of key weekly trading materials, including presentations and supporting analysis.
  • Accountable for periodic and quarterly business reviews for the Commercial function.
  • Proactively provide commercial decision support & governance
  • Become a key part of aligned team/function thereby providing a key link between finance and the business to ensure accurate planning, forecasting and reporting



Good things you'll need 


  • Varied finance background preferable, covering FP&A and commercial decision support
  • Finance experience in a retail or FMCG environment desirable
  • Ideally CPA or similar business qualification
  • Commercial awareness and business focus
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to challenge and influence to reach ‘win/win’ solutions
  • Proven ability to establish relationships across the business
  • Experience in developing and managing high performance finance teams
  • Experience in building and improving end to end planning processes
  • Experience in managing competing priorities and expectations
  • Ability to be able to review business processes to understand impacts on financial outcomes and make recommendations for improvement #LI-FIN
